I feel like Kingsolver re-invents her style with every book and every time she excels at it. This modern Appalachian re-telling of David Copperfield is just as engaging, meaningful and poetically verbose as the original with more current social commentary. The narrative voice immediately pulls you in with its raw, colorful descriptions and dark humor. There were many sad parts  but it is the tenacious hopefulness that went right to my heart. One of my favorite reads in a long time.
