I could not put this book down it was incredible. Everything about it felt too real. Although it didn't make me cry (even though everyone said it would) it honestly made me feel depressed for a week after finishing it. Despite the novel being a work of fiction, the reality of the atrocities described in the book really make you think. I also loved that no matter how flawed the main character was, I still found myself rooting for him, and his redemption. I'm sure many of us would like to believe we would do things differently in his shoes, but all of his choices felt so real. This book covered so many important topics, that are often looked over, and handled them extremely well.
The ending IMO was perfect for this story. Not too happy (which would have come across as cheesy after 400 pages of depression) and not too sad (which may have felt unsatisfying).
