I get what this story was trying to do, show how difficult it would be for a young teenager to navigate social differences, and advocate for understand and open minds, and I did get glimpses of moments where I got it. But I felt that for the majority of the book I just kept waiting for something to happen, and it just kind of fizzled along. It was so frustratingly slow I almost gave up on it so many times. Sheeba was the only character that had any interest to her and kept me hanging on to the end.
The only thing it had in common with Daisy jones and the six or almost famous was the era it was set it, however the storytelling doesn’t even compare to those.
