I really enjoyed Jade City. I do wish it was a little faster in the beginning. I felt like the first 25% was super slow going. I do think it helped to flush out the complex politics and magic system. The magic system was so unique and I wish we got to see more of it. I will say I think the characters and character dynamics are where this book really shines. I loved the sibling aspect of it and the fight between expectations and being who you want to be. I will eventually finish the series but probably won’t do so anytime soon.
