Under the Same Stars follows three timelines of intertwining stories across decades. The first takes place in 1940's Nazi Germany, the second in 1980's Cold War Germany and the third takes place in New York in 2020. Across these times and interwoven stories we see acts of resistance and the different ways it can show up.
I absolutely loved this book so much. I think Libba Bray is such a brilliant and beautiful writer. The way she is able to tell a story is absolutely stunning and sucks me in every time.
I will say the timeline I had the most interest in was the one in the 1940's because Sophie and Hanna's story was really fascinating to follow especially considering the circumstance they both grew up in. However, I also loved Jenny and Miles stories as they really lended a lot to the story. The characters felt so real and like someone you could meet in real life and get to know. I love how their stories all intersected and the way's revolution showed up in the stories.
Libba Bray's writing is so beautiful and lyrical. It's so stunning to read and really takes my breath away every time I read her works.
I would say also to listen to the audiobook as they do really interesting audio mixing with different parts of the story and really made it such a well rounded experience.
I really loved this book so much and I think this is a very important story that absolutely needs to be told especially in these trying times. I would highly recommend this book for everyone to read.
