I went into this book misinformed (my own fault), as I thought that it was more of a thriller than a mystery. Not a lot happens, and I didn’t like the characters enough (or find them interesting) to make up for the lack of plot. I’m not a huge fan of books where if everyone just communicated, all problems would be solved, and this was one of those books. I did find it an easy read and didn’t especially dislike it, I just didn’t actively like it either. It did make me emotional towards the end, and I admittedly liked Pearl’s character a lot. I prefer other Lisa Jewell books.
