I really enjoyed this. I was eager to see Valerius finally get his HEA and it did not disappoint. I also love the uptight male loses his ever-(un)living mind when he meets his soul mate trope.
I kept envisioning Valerius with blond hair and I don’t know why. Maybe because the name Valerius just SEEMS like a blond person’s name?
Always good to catch up with Zarek, though I was confused as to his anger toward Valerius. In Dance with the Devil he seemed to know that Valerius was forced to do those brutal things to him, especially because it usually was the punishment for him trying to be nice to Zarek. But maybe the animosity grew during their Dark-Hunter periods? Not very clear, but I was sad to see that even Zarek was picking on Val. Where’s all that growth, Z??
The situation with the Big Bad(s) was kind of confusing, but my god this is definitely the darkest HEA in the series yet. I was not ready for some of the heavy hits this book threw out. Like, wow.
A lot of the action was stuffed into the last 50 or so pages and the pacing suffers a bit from it but given the chaos of the situation it wasn’t a major deal. But I do like to see my MCs happy for longer at the end, that’s what was missing here. Like I want to know what Tabs and Val have planned for the future.
