Ethan Frome
by Edith Wharton
I read this book for a book club (Karen Swallow Prior's "On Reading Well"). While I didn't particularly fall in love with the book, I enjoyed its conciseness (it was a quick and engaging read), the dark irony, and the cautionary tale of how gradual adulterous thoughts are. Honestly I didn't love the ending but I'm growing more fond of "dark" books here and there. I have yet to read Prior's chapter on this so I'm sure that will change my mind slightly but it's a solid 3 stars.
