Elizabeth Lim strikes again, bringing me back into a magical but fierce world where you never know who is on your side. This was a really enjoyable read, filled with intriguing court secrets, and danger lurking at every corner. I am fond of Elizabeth Lim's style of writing a subtle but blossoming romance, whilst keeping the character at heart still loyal and dedicated to her family. The intricacies of the court and ruling classes are always one that have me doing connect the dots in my head to try determine who's side is this person on, and what are their actual intentions.

Lim does not abandon platonic relationships, and seeks to have her protagonist connect with those around her in some way. The ending had me begging for more and I cannot wait to read the next book.
