Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries was a delightful surprise! it's a cozy read with a fun, adventurous feel. the characters are all charming, especially once Emily's colleague Wendell enters the scene and things pick up.
the book has a bit of an academic vibe due to the vocabulary, but it mostly serves to highlight Emily's professorial background. while i thoroughly enjoyed the story, the romantic subplot between Emily and Wendell wasn't quite necessary for me personally.
