Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton

dark inspiring tense slow-paced

2.5

I appreciate the message of this book. At its core it’s about learning to love yourself and accepting yourself for who you are. Learning not to focus on the romantic relationships but the friendships that are still full of love.

Unfortunately, this advice is only focused on for the last 20% of the book. This advice felt thought out and based on experience and quite valuable. The rest of the book is moments from the author's adolescence and twenties. It was interesting to see someone with similar anxieties to myself approach their problems in a vastly different way. I think their journey wasn’t relatable but educational. It removed any FOMO I've had about not being a partier in high school or college.

Overall, I felt disconnected from these anecdotes and wasn’t really invested in the author's story. It wasn’t until the advice section pulled everything together that I felt this book have the impact it was attempting to have.
