The Silent Wife
by Karin Slaughter
I prefer Karin Slaughter’s work when she’s writing from the perspective of an “average joe” rather than a detective or the police. Reading from an investigator’s perspective feels one step further away from the action and makes it more difficult for me to feel a connection with the characters. I think because I felt less invested in the characters I may have missed a few details and therefore felt like there were a few loose ends when I finished the book.
All that said - this was almost everything I’d expect from one of these novels. It kept me up at night and after the halfway point it was a true page turner.
