I really enjoyed this. Like an excellent puzzle. I think the breaking-the-fourth-wall part (especially the page number clues and the section headings) really got me engaged in trying to work out all the details to a degree that I wouldn't normally. I was making notes!
I also thought the "transparent" writing style enabled the author to do things they wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Where else would "We're on page 14." hit as hard as it does?
You might not like it if you don't like clever (too clever?) narrators, but it was totally my thing and I'll be checking out the next one as soon as I can.
