Pet Sematary is creepy on a whole other level, tapping into primal fears and anxieties that are deeply ingrained in human nature.
It explores of the dark side of human nature: delving into the lengths to which people are willing to go when consumed by grief or driven by desperation. It also examines the consequences of tampering with death and the disturbing choices individuals can make when pushed to their limits.
The mix of real life grief alongside supernatural forces makes this book deeply unsettling. King masterfully exploits these fears, making this story resonate with the reader on a psychological level.
I've read this book so many times, but my most recent read hit me a lot harder than it has previously due to recent loss in my life. And here I am, already wanting to pick it up again!
