This book is really clever. It's a 'choose your own adventure' style of book, where you make decisions on some pages that tell you to turn to a different page, but after a few tries you'll notice commonalities in the paths that suggest something larger going on. If you pay attention, you might eventually figure out how to break the loop.
The story fits in with the best Lower Decks plot lines, mixing comedy with a few serious moments. It works in many deep-dive Trek references, and it's also interactive in a way I've never seen a book do before.
