Running With Scissors follows Burroughs’ growing up in two crazy families, with a lot of messed up events and relationships both surrounding him and of his own. I wouldn’t call this a comedy like it’s advertised, maybe a dark comedy at best because anything funny was far outweighed by extremely confronting recounts of his problematic childhood, but I couldn’t put it down.
Graphic: Excrement, Body shaming, Sexual violence, Rape, Forced institutionalization, Animal death, Abandonment, Toxic relationship, Sexual assault, Drug use, and Adult/minor relationship
Moderate: Ableism, Pedophilia, Suicidal thoughts, and Emotional abuse
