i just don't think emily henry is for me. i liked this more than the first of her's i had read (happy place) but honestly...still not the biggest fan. january's perspective annoyed me, it always felt like she projecting things onto gus that there wasn't really any indication that he felt but then he ended up feeling that way anyway? the banter and chemistry was mostly fun but i felt it stretched on way too long. the extra stuff going on with january and her dad added nothing for me. and honestly january and gus's bet barely meant anything after the first third of the book when i thought it would be more of a driving force.

i can actually pinpoint the part of the book where i was over the romance...when gus revealed that he had liked january since college. this is like post him being married. this isn't romantic to me its just a turn off and kind of...icky. i wouldn't want to be with someone who entered another relationship harboring feelings for another person, even if that person was me.

also i hated that right near the end of the book when the romance should be coming to a peak i had to read a bunch of fuck ass letter's from january's cheating dad. i literally did not care.

also my mom is also named after the song "june in january" but her name is june because she was born in january hence the "june in january" ... stupid but it bugged me. naming your kid born in january january because of a song "june in january" makes no sense. you just named her for the month she was born in then.
