Maybe Once, Maybe Twice by Alison Rose Greenberg

5.0

Maggie has two great loves of her life and she’s made a pact with each of them to get married if they are still single when they turn thirty-five, and then they both showed up. This book jumps around in time to show both of Maggie’s previous relationships with Garrett and Asher, and the present when she’s now thirty-five and trying to decide what to do. There are things happening in the present that the reader won’t fully understand until they’ve read about the past, and it’s just all really seamlessly woven together by Alison Greenberg.

There are so many facets to this novel that I can’t possibly touch them all so this will actually be short and sweet. Maybe Once, Maybe Twice is a second chance, celebrity romance, with Jewish and infertility representation, and has music as a main theme and a way for Maggie to connect with her late father and both of her great loves. I really enjoyed reading about Maggie’s music career and watching her struggle and succeed in the industry and connect it to both her past and present.

I definitely had a preference but I can honestly say I didn’t know how Alison Greenberg was going to end the novel. One of the guys always seemed like he was playing games with Maggie or maybe it was just that they had terrible timing and miscommunication. Overall, I really loved how Alison Greenberg chose to end the novel and the choices Maggie made and where she ended up.
