A dark tale of friendship, where nothing is quite as it seems.
Wyatt has always felt there’s something unusual about her childhood home. She has happy memories (for the most part) of her time there but as the book begins she is heading to her childhood home to burn it down.
When she arrives she discovers someone she remembers as a good childhood friend chained in the basement. For reasons she can’t recall there is something tying her and Peter to this house. So many questions raised and the answers take their time coming.
Initially this was quite slow, but it was a fascinating exploration of beliefs and ideas. As the book progressed I did find it hard to keep track of who had done what to cross whom, but it all got resolved by the end. I would have liked to know more about the family ties and the relationships that forged these characters but it was definitely a read I’d recommend.
