Brittany Lucas is spending the summer helping a friend and training a mustang. She is also getting away from her cheating ex-fiance and CEO father. Brittany's father has high expectation for her that she doesn't know if she even wants to meet. Brittany is also very resistant to authority. That doesn't help her with Ranger Joel Morgan who expects people to do what he says. So he is in for a surprise when he meets headstrong Brittany.

Joel is in town to investigate poaching happening in the Rocky Mountain National Park. As Brittany and Joel grow more attracted to each other the poacher starts to set his sights on Brittany. Brittany doesn't do summer flings and Joel doesn't stay in one place long enough to have anything but. Now that Joel's feelings for Brittany are growing and someone is trying to hurt her, it is getting harder for him to imagine leaving.

The description of the book mentions Brittany's dad and ex but they aren't really part of the book. It starts with Brittany already in Colorado and uses her dad and ex only when needed to show the conflict of if she should move back to Chicago. It is such a small part of the book that it is almost not worth mentioning them at all.

I like that Brittany is a strong and independent woman who doesn't rely on others to do things for her. And although she is strong, she still has vulnerabilities like a normal person.

Joel was bossy and it was a lot of fun seeing him get so frustrated when Brittany wouldn't do whatever he said. He wasn't bossy all the time and started to learn a better way to talk to Brittany and bond with her. He was really sweet to Brittany. Reading his feelings evolve for her made me like him a lot.

Their attraction was fast and the book only covered a short period of time. This book didn't have the instant attraction jumping into bed that other books have. The relationship grew and developed before they had sex. It made it worth it that they got to know each other before it was all love you forever and I'll die if you die and/or leave me. The chemistry between Brittany and Joel was great and how it build slowly even though it was a short period.

This book and the characters in it were really fun to read. I got it free on my kindle so I wasn't sure about it. I was pleasantly surprised by this book.
