Really great at showing empowered women but staying true to the medieval context where women were discriminated against. A woman who inspires in her complexity. Woman isnt just a mother, a lover, or a political animal. She is all of that and yes politics   And family ambition are important to a woman. That doesnt mean she isnt a woman. Made me think a lot about what love and ambition. Author really passionate about her history. The end index speaking about characters who were in history was super great for closure. I stayed up multiple nights till 3 am reading this
