Tiger Hills by Sarita Mandanna

I don't really have words for this book. I sat and thought about what to write... and then I sat and thought some more. I even struggled over how many stars to give it. Don't get me wrong, this was a beautiful and harsh and deep story that made me cry more often than I like to think about. But... I just don't know how to encapsulate it.

It probably also doesn't help that this is not something I would normally read, this generational epic... I'm a fan of happy endings. I know it's not realistic, but it's fiction, and it's an escape for me. And although this book has a... hopeful ending, it's a rough journey getting there, and well, there's no guarantees in life.

So, if you don't mind shedding some tears, and ambiguous endings, and maybe getting the urge to just slap a certain main character once in a while; basically, if you don't mind riding the emotional roller coaster for a few hundred pages... well, go ahead and hop on. It's quite the ride.
