Ulysses
by James Joyce
James Joyce’s Ulysses isn’t a book, it’s a word play, it’s copyright infringement,
It’s a plagiarism of a chapter in Looh e Mehfooz (book of destiny).
one doesn’t have to read it.
I’ve got my personal take on it which isn’t shared by, i guess, anyone around so here it goes..
This book makes mockery of writing n reading, this is break from anything that writing n reading ever stood.
Even the name n chapters of the book make joke of Odyssey, the greatest story ever penned.
The novel is writing for the sake of writing alone. It’s pure instinctual n base writing where the purpose is to savour the words in their crude sublimity.
Nothing happens in the book, nothing at all. A man lives through a day which is completely ordinary.
Every single chapter is very minutely crafted work of art to be marvelled at since each chapter is penned in different style. Whatever style each chapter adopts, it makes sure that it becomes the best version of that style in a way to make mockery of style as well. Like there’s a chapter which makes mockery of whole romantic genre even though in writing alone it’s better than all romantic books combined.
To sum it up all, it’s got one chapter with zero punctuation which is a way to ridicule the very essence of language itself; but than again this very chapter is epitome of steam of conscious genre.
So i think no one has to read this Book but one must to be able to know all the things wrong about any book ever written. This book is sort of scale with which you compare n weigh everything else. It lives on the very edge of cliff, n one must for once in life absolutely have to stand there, just to be able to appreciate life.
Anaesthesia, Synesthesia, broken bones, fractured skulls, lurid dreams, insane reality, uncalled for karma.
Transmigration, transmutation n translation of vagrant souls.
