The 52-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths, Terry Denton

2.0

If you revel in stupid jokes, think ninja snails are the height of humor, and like books with very few lines of text on a page, then you will love "52-Story Treehouse" and all of its predecessors. The protagonists of this series are Andy and Terry, the actual author and illustrator of each book. They have built a massive treehouse with a floor devoted to almost everything imaginable, like a rocket-powered carrot launcher, a fully stocked pizza parlor, and a rocking horse racetrack. The two boys appear to spend their days hanging out, getting roped into extraordinarily ridiculous situations that are references frequently in this book. The plot is fairly straightforward - Terry has forgotten Andy's birthday - but quickly becomes so convoluted that most readers will forget this is the main conflict. Vengeful potato princes and flying fried egg cars, anyone? Ultimately, this will appeal to upper elementary readers who enjoy silly stories that are heavy on graphic elements and light on sophistication.
