Fake Dates and Mooncakes by Sher Lee
4.0
MAKING MOONCAKES WITH YOUR NEW FAKE DATE
rating: ★★★★
✩‧₊˚ background✧.*
In Sher Lee's debut novel, Dylan Tang helps his Aunt Jade run a small Chinese takeout business. When Dylan meets Theo Somers on a delivery run, Dylan couldn't help but finding himself falling for Theo's smile and personality. As Theo asks Dylan to be his fake date at a family event at the same time Dylan enters a mooncake contest, the two have quite a journey filled with sweet sorrows.

I finally got an opportunity to read this book, and I have loved it ever since I learned about the characters and its story. I found Dylan to be relatable with his love of funny phrases. I loved learning about how mooncakes are made and the history behind it. I've never had a mooncake, but I have always wanted to try one. Dylan and Theo's chemistry was just adorable and easy to follow. Also, I love how the wedding played a score from "How to Train Your Dragon". That would make an amazing wedding.
✩‧₊˚ recommend? ✧.*
I recommend this book to readers who like LGBTQ+ reads, books that involve Chinese culture in their plots, and readers who are looking for a refreshing book with a fake dating trope. It's a really cute read, and I'm looking forward to reading more books written by Sher Lee.
