ARC Review
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book but I absolutely loved it. I still haven’t decided how I feel about darker romances but this one didn’t have any of the normal things that I’m iffy about. Plus it had so many twists I wasn’t expecting that made it where I never wanted to put it down.
Obviously I won’t spoil anything, but the ending was a complete surprise. At no point did I think what happened would happen. It was such an unexpected turn especially because of the personality of a character.
There were some moments where I was frustrated with the “mystery” of Grant’s background. It felt almost too secretive, at least the first part of his past (I would consider it to be broken into two parts). I guess based on how much it was referenced, I expected the first part to be bigger than it was. That being said, the second part was BIG so that mostly makes up for it.
Overall, I liked this way more than I expected to going in. Grant and Landon have a good dynamic and a bit of history coming into the main story which made it have more depth. I also really loved one of the side characters (Declan) and whatever he has going on with another character (my guess is they will be a book in the series - hopefully!).
