The first full novel we read together as a family (son 4 years old and daughter 19 months). It worked great as a read-aloud because the chapters are super short, so it was never a problem to read one more. My son loved the book and has named his stuffed animals after two of the characters. It’s hard to tell what my daughter thought, but she now calls any duck/goose/seagull “Brightbill,” which has been super cute. The basics of the story are about a robot who awakes alone on an island and has to learn how to adapt and survive. The ending was very exciting to read out loud, and I had to try to hold back tears for parts of it. We are now reading the second book.
