littlebookthief 's review for:
Luster
by Raven Leilani
this book was honest, ugly, very truthful, and raw. perhaps, even too much of all these qualities altogether.
it pains me that I now realise that I just don't vibe with such a writing style. it was too disconnected and every paragraph, even every sentences seems so detached from each other that it is just stressful to go through. I wanted to read this because it was a debut, very short, and some of the people I know have rated this as a legit debut. But I guess, just not for me. It even took me longer than usual to finish, and as a conclusion, I am not happy about it.
what was the conclusion of all that? what happened in the end? will I even remember anything ever after reading this? why am I still genuinely confused about the whole point of this story, or was it meant to just be nonsensical and just, metaphorically confusing? I highly doubt this ... and that just infuriates me more.
