Visser by K.A. Applegate

Super annoyed at this cover. They go and put on an intimidating as hell Visser Three on the front and back of this book, and its not even a book about him!! Its more about Visser One!!! Like, this book has Visser Three, but it is told in the perspective of Visser One. Can't she get any cover love???

So, basically Visser One is on trial for her past actions of appearing to help the Andalite Bandits, and whether her actions were in the interest of the Yeerk Empire. Visser Three is present at her trial, and does his best to make sure she is shown in the worst possible light, and as a result ends up placing himself under suspicion as well.

On the one hand it was pretty entertaining to watch these two nemesis go at it, trying to one up each other, but on the other hand, some of the tactics, particularly when V.3 orchestrates a fake Andalite Bandit take down, it ends up kind of making this aspect of the Yeerk universe more dumb and less intimidating and dark. Its hard to have a fear for these aliens taking over the world, when they were so easily deceived by fake Andalite warriors. The Animorphs have nothing to worry about.

It was interesting to learn Visser One's origin story on how she became the leader of the Earth take over. However, none of her actions really made me think, "Oh that's how she became Visser One!" It was more like "She became Visser One why???"

The best part of the story was less than 6 whole pages when Marco comes face to face with Visser One. Kind of worth it though. He has really grown into a great character in this series.
