Rose by Ripley Proserpina

4.0

Rose is the first in this brand new series from the author. Though it was a spin off the Briar series and I haven't read it yet, this is a stand alone and previous characters appeared on this book. This is contemporary, paranormal romance.

The story was about Rose, the wonder child who survived the Nightmare that happened a decade ago. Doctors couldn't describe her ability to heal fast and her hard like stone skin, not only that, they couldn't find the source why she suffered chronic pain. This makes Rose, for me, a strong willed woman, the kind who doesn't give up in life and strives to survive one day at a time. For a long time, she tried to live through the pain and attention from those who didn't believe her claim of demon sightings. Until one day, her pain mysteriously goes away when she met Horus, and his brothers Seti and Ra.

Rose is a great start with its world building for the next book but with still enough mystery that will make you ask for more and beg for the next installment. Though there was instant attraction between Rose and her men, I love the slow build up of the relationship that makes it more realistic. The story was told through multiple POV, and it was a perfect way to differentiate and get to know the guys, what they feel and thinking.

I was intrigued to know more of the guys' backstory especially when it was let slip what they really were *gasp*. I have a feeling that the next book will be action packed and maybe, steamier on the relationship side. Really enjoyed this one!
