Bitter Medicine by Mia Tsai
1.0
This was not a fantasy book. This was romance with some silly magic thrown in to meet the genre specifications.
The world made no sense as author does no world building. Who really is Elle? What does her Chinese magic mean? Why are they being chased by a French agent with an office in US???
If Elle’s obnoxious brother Tony was a magic healer, and if only he could use the magic to heal as the first born( more patriarchy thrown in), why are we okay with him running away from that calling? Why is the younger brother made the villain when all he wanted to do was use his brother’s magic to heal his friend??
Aaargh! I have more questions than answers after finishing the book.
And i did not really care for sexy times going on n on n on for 4 pages. Especially the one towards the climax( ignore the pun). Just finish the goddamn story before all this.
And Luc? Sigh! Why have him harbor this big secret only to do nothing with it afterwards??
And they are all immortals who live in a mortal world but no idea how the humans don’t see them. Why is Luc a fixer and what exactly is he fixing???
It did start out well. And then everyone lost the plot!
