The Grimrose Girls by Laura Pohl

4.0

UPDATE 1/23/2023: Still fun!! Still a quick read!!.

***

I read the entire book in one fell swoop and it was just a fun ride the whole time. It's not hard to spot the fairytale connections to all of the characters, but the most fun part is connecting the dots with the magic (and mystery!) happening behind the scenes of the Grimrose Academy.

This book is told in multiple POV, which I worried initially would get confusing, but each character has a delightful voice, perspective, and fun twist on the fairytale that inspired them. Characters are rife with LGBTQA+ representation and different cultural backgrounds, and Grimrose Girls feels like Disney's Descendants meets Gallagher Girls in all the best ways.

If you're looking for a quick, delightful, slightly gory mystery, this is definitely worth the read! I also recently learned this will be one of a series, and thank goodness, because we're just getting started with all the mysteries hidden in Grimrose Academy's hallowed halls...
