On Palestine by Ilan Pappé, Noam Chomsky
4.0

incredibly informative, sobering, and galvanizing, especially in regards to critiques on activism and how we can better support palestinians, but certainly not an ideal introduction to the "issue" of palestine. since the book is structured as a dialogue between chomsky and pappé, the audiobook felt like listening to a podcast, which, given how dense the material is, made it quite difficult to fully grasp, let alone retain, all the details. regardless, main takeaways are that zionism is an inherently racist, settler-colonialist dogma by which the israeli government rules; the  ethnic cleansing of palestinians has been decades in the making through israeli policy and military force; the u.s. bankrolls this violence annually under the guise of "defending democracy;" and it really isn't as complicated as propaganda has led us to believe, it's genocide, plain and simple.
