This was a disappointment. I stuck through because I really enjoyed the first book, and I heard it gets better, but it didn't, really. It was nowhere near the first one.
The writing was much worse, even cringey at times. It was really boring for the first half, and while the second half picked up pace a bit, I just couldn't muster any f*cks to give.
The plot was so done to death (yes, even compared to f*cking *death trials*)!
I think I'm basically allergic to mcguffins at this point. Reading about them is literally painful for me. If there's a mcguffin (especially one that is introduced as a plot device later on the book/books and not set in the very premise) I instantly tune out of the plot.

Worst of all, there was no reason between the characters. It almost ruined for me the way I saw the characters in the first books. They're interactions felt forced and lackluster. I didn't get a sense of connection between them, not to mention *true love*.
Sigh.
