Burn for Burn
by Jenny Han, Siobhan Vivian
I like Jenny Han. Her Summer series is very entertaining and I enjoy it, when I picked up this book I expected a lot. I was met with a generally entertaining novel, but was slightly disappointed.
To be honest, I think a book about getting revenge on people is bound to be something that I don't love. I found some of the plot in this novel, no, most of it, kind of petty. Some parts I was near rolling my eyes at the predictability or something or other.
Don't get me wrong, the book was enjoyable enough. It was funny to read of the different ways these ladies acted upon the people who had wronged them.
The characters could tend to be a little stereotypical, but I liked them enough. Lillia was my favorite of the three (I liked her name haha), Kat and Mary could be annoying at certain times but they were cool too. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I really liked Lillia's sister too. She didn't seem like a character that was meant to be super liked, but I enjoyed reading about her.
The whole Kat/Lillia/What's his name love triangle thing going on is captivating, and I might just read the next book just to find out where that goes.
Overall, I enjoyed the summer series more than this book, but it may have been that I was reading them at different times and I felt more negatively towards "books like this one" while I was reading it.
I would recommend this to any fans of series like Pretty Little Liars and such, this book reminded me of the vibe that one had. It's more for girls and people who don't mind petty revenge schemes I guess?
I'm sounding negative, this book is rather entertaining, don't get me wrong.
