A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson

4.0

I loved ALMOST SISTERS, so I picked up another Joshilyn Jackson book hoping for a similar kind of read. A GROWN-UP KIND OF PRETTY is a much more heavy and grim novel. The characters are complex and flawed -- even though I didn't agree with all of their actions, I found them sympathetic. Although this is a character-driven novel, the plot was tense and twisty enough to keep me turning pages. Overall, I found the book depressing but compelling.
