In Twenty Years by Allison Winn Scotch

5.0

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

I've read several of Allison Winn Scotch novels and have enjoyed them all. In Twenty Years takes us inside the dynamics of six college students and their diverse, six-star friendship (two male, four female.)

Bea, one of the six points of the star, passed away years ago and left one request-- that her five friends gather at their old college rental home over the 4th of July on what would have been Bea's 40th birthday... and open letter's they'd written back in college to their "older self." Oh boy, can't we all relate to the realization that our life rarely turns out how we imagined at twenty!

There are many "successful" stories in their group, but we soon realize they come with a price. As their get-together unfolds it is filled with regrets, lies, wishes, and a lot of soul-searching. All with a message (to me anyway) that few understand us as well as our old friends. A great read!
