- Strong character development? Yes
3.0
Eh, I'll give it three stars simply because it kept me reading.
The good:
The good:
- Broder's rendering of an eating disorder was spot-on
- Occasional moments of wit
- Main character was v fleshed out and I enjoyed developing, as the book went on, an understanding of her inner world
- Interesting commentary on desire (I guess lol)
- Tbqh I enjoyed the mommy kink stuff... sue me
The bad:
- The way she fetishizes fat people... oooof that is some MAJOR objectification under the guise of love BS and I hated it
- The ending was sooo rushed—talk about jarring
- I could just tell from reading it that the main character was Broder (and that Broder is hopelessly self-indulgent)
- Lots of weird sex stuff that was simply in there for shock value
- So many parts were wayyy too on the nose. I.e., Broder does not trust the reader enough to read between the lines
- The dreams...
