This was the first book of Chris Woodings that I read and it took me quite a while to reconcile the author of this book with the author of the Braided Path trilogy. The writing styles are really different, though having read them all so many times now I do see some similarities. This book remains my favourite however.
I think the plot of this is really clever, I have thought this since I first read it and that hasn't changed a good 9 years and multiple re-reads on.
If you like fairy tales but want a bit of a twist to them I would highly recommend you pick this book up.
