This book was overall pretty good standard mystery, but had some pacing issues that got in its own way. I felt like the middle dragged on for way too long, and then we had two seconds to zip through the legal proceedings and then jumped five years at the end. I also had a few more unanswered questions at the end that I felt could’ve been more fleshed out. Compelling story, but maybe not the best execution.
There is a genre of book where the author reveals everything in the last few pages. It can be done really well, or it can be less than exciting. Unfortunately, I think this one fell in the latter category. It felt like the author left so many plot holes until the very end of the book, and then scrambled to explain them. And the reveal was a bit predictable tbh? I had an inkling it was Sarah from the beginning, but I was surprised by Bob and her involvement in her Mother’s death. So there’s that!
