The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

2.0

HAHAHA, well, I think that Rick Riordan had three or four super duper books in him, and then he crashed down to mediocrity. Perhaps that's a bit harsh.

Anyways, I think that this book wasn't written because he loved this world, or that he wanted to be with his characters longer. I think he wrote it because every time he writes one of these books he gets a bajillion dollars, because everyone reads it. EVERYONE. I mean, I'd keep writing in the same series if I got that much money too, but... I mean... It doesn't do us readers any favors.

I honestly think that most people liked it because they wanted to. I mean, I wanted to like it, and I did, until it was over and I thought about it for a while.

My other problem was that the characters were FLAAAT. All but Percy anyways. I may not like this one, and those after it, but I will hear nothing against Percy. Anyways, all the other characters held droning monotone narrative, and they all sounded like that. After a while the words sort of blurred, and I sort of trailed off and would stare into space for a while. Another problem I had was that the characters were all so organised... Like it was too easy or something. I dunno.
