This book has a completely different style than the rest of the series. This book used two separate timelines to tell the story, and while both were very good they didn't mess well or make that much sense. The present-day story is told in the same manner as most of the previous stories in the series but with Kinsey being a bit more active and engaged with the plot. The second story taking place in 1953 is told from multiple POVs and is actually the more interesting story. The part that doesn't make sense is the fact that it is never explained how we as the reader are getting that storyline.
