You get to see her journey, starting with her early organizing and activism, moving into her career as a teacher and writer, and through her incredible literary accomplishments. It is only lightly edited and highly transparent, giving you a window into the peaks and valleys of her life, including her struggles with romantic partners, parenting, PMS, and depression. If Walker is one of your heroes (as she is for me), make sure you’re willing to see her humanity before you begin reading this one.
