The Long Way Home
by Louise Penny
4 stars for a welcome addition to the Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny. I read this library book in 3 days. it is a page turner. I have read the previous 9 books in the series and it helps if you read them in order, as there are continuing plot lines.
This book has Clara Morrow asking Armand for help in finding her husband Peter. She asked him to leave over 1 year ago, because he had grown increasingly jealous of her success as an artist. She told him to come back in exactly 1 year, and they could possibly reconcile. But the 1 year anniversary date has gone by with no Peter. She is worried that something may have happened to Peter. Armand is now retired from the Surete(police), but agrees to investigate.
My wife read this book before me and said "it is a really good book. It is very emotional." The ending is emotional for Clara.
In previous books, there was not a great deal of humor, but this one has some laugh out loud lines.
Definition of Ruth Zardo FINE:
"Ruth had called her latest slim volume of poetry I'm FINE. Only people who read it realized that FINE stood for Fucked up, Insecure, Neurotic and Egotistical."
