I finished Songbirds by Christy Lefteri with this morning's coffee. I liked the concept of the story but felt the middle 25% of the book could've been omitted and not lost any value or balance to the plot. Also, I don't need a happy ending, I do need a book with closure, and I didn't get that with this one.

The subject matter is what drew me in. The topics of migrant workers, and the heartbreak they endure leaving everything they know to go and work for nearly nothing in a strange land where they are often disrespected, and, as in this case, generally ignored.

On another note, the writing is beautiful and eloquent.
