Classic Starts: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, Lucy Corvino, Arthur Pober, Kathleen Olmstead

3.0

When I went to find a copy of the book, I did not realize was that there are so many different versions of this classic, and how different they are from one another!! I started off by picking up both the graphic novel and the “original” version of the books. After I picked up the “original” and read a few pages, I realized that it was definitely NOT the version that I read back in elementary school. The language and sentence structure did not make it an easy read, and I’m sure most children do not pick up this copy for that reason. I ended up putting it down after a few pages because it wasn’t what I was looking for in a Middle Grade novel. ⁣

After being unsure of the graphic novel, I picked up my third (lol) version which was an “abridged classic” version. I highly recommend this version as well, especially for young readers. It is easy to fall in love with Anne. ❤️⁣

I remember reading the Illustrated Classics version and absolutely falling in love with Anne’s wagon rides and the scenery of Green Gables. I’ve been trying to find an affordable copy of it online!
