We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

2.0

“What if we could stop being different colors, different backgrounds, and just be in love?”

I'm not going to lie.

We Were Liars was the one book in 2014 that everyone blew up and said it was a masterpiece, but all I got was a very mediocre book with unlikeable characters and one of the worst (and most predictable) twists in Young Adult history!

I'd like to say something nice about it, but the only thing that comes to mind is that it's a very quick read with one heart hitting metaphor.

“We are liars. We are beautiful and privileged. We are cracked and broken.”
