Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

5.0

"He’ll be famous — a legend — I wouldn’t be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter day in the future — there will be books written about Harry — every child in our world will know his name!”

I don't think Joanne Kathleen Rowling knew just how true this would be when she jotted this quote in the first chapter of Harry Potter.

This book was almost emotional to read.
Though you can clearly see it is a children's book, I still think it's enjoyable for adults. As the books progress, they get more mature anyway. There's no other story that can connect your past, present and future together into one tiny gift. It has the power to transport you back to the days when magic was still real in our hearts and there was no trick to discover. It can amaze you all over again in the present and help you realise things you've never spotted before. And the future is waiting, because you know - without a doubt that this will be passed down to your children when they are keen to discover the magic of reading.

As plenty of other people have said, it is still worth a read for Potterheads. Certain details are missed from the movie. The Jester ghost, Peeves. The origins of things. Whole scenes are missed out from the film. Even though I feel the cast played the characters well, there is much more to their personalities in the book.

There's so many amazing quotes in this novel to take through life.

It only took me 24 years to get around to reading this masterpiece. Don't waste any more time if you're still putting it off.
