Solid start to the series. It didn't blow me away but it also didn't turn me off like I thought it might. The book covers are misleading on these, I wasn't overwhelmed with tropes and romance, on the contrary, there was a ton of world building and time spent on explaining the werewolf hierarchy. Not that much time spent on different Faye which intrigues me and makes me want to learn more. I really like Mercy and her inner monologue, a tough mechanic shape shifting coyote with a solid head on her shoulders. 3 stars mostly because this book as a standalone was definitely missing some intrigue. It was fun but slow overall, however I can see the potential and I know that long series like this one tend to get better over time and for that reason I'm definitely going to read/listen to one or two more before I decide if I'll go to the end. I think it merits a chance, the potential is definitely there.
