The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

2.0

The Handmaid's Tale is in my top 5 books of all Time, so I've had a lot of conversations with friends/ relatives/my hairdresser/anyone who'll listen about how necessary 'The Testaments'' existence is. I'm bummed to report that I stand by my initial assessment of not really at all... It was disappointing. Do I like hearing about rapists being viscerally ripped apart by mobs of victims? Hell yeah. Do I need the rest of the book which doesn't tell me about the actual fall of Gilead itself? Nah. The prose was great, obviously, because it's Atwood, but the plotting was a lil lazy and way too tidy imo.
